In an uncommon rap on the knuckles of the federal government, the Umno-led Sabah government said the former unnoticed the desires of Sabah and Sarawak to move on with tourism tax.
Masidi Manjun, Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister confirmed that the state would jointly work in tandem with Sarawak on a common stand in terms of tourism tax.
He also said that the federal government never consulted Sabah in the matter of tax and that it had gone ahead with the tabling of the Tourism Tax Act 2017 in Parliament regardless of the resistance that came from Sabah and Sarawak.
Previous, Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sarawak Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister had explained that the new tourism tax was kind of a glaring example of the federal government imposing tax laws in Sarawak with no discussion whatsoever.
His comments against the action caused war of words with federal Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Aziz, with others joining the dispute to share their views or to criticise Nazri.
