Sabre and Malaysia AirlinesSabre Corporation, the leading technology provider to the global travel industry, recently co-hosted the Sabre & Malaysia Airlines Gala Dinner, a joint event celebrating the success of the companies’ loyal partners and recognizing the contribution of top agents across Malaysia. Bringing together more than 250 key stakeholders from the industry, the event was also an occasion to honour the long-term partnership between Sabre and Malaysia Airlines.

Accompanied by members of the industry, Malaysia Airlines CEO Captain Izham Ismail, Arved von zur Muehlen, chief commercial officer for Malaysia Airlines, and Jorge Vilches, senior vice president, air line of business, Sabre Travel Network, had the opportunity to congratulate agents and underline a Sabre and Malaysia Airlines strategic partnership that has spanned more than 20 years.

“From the time when Malaysia Airlines was a founding shareholder of Sabre Travel Network Asia Pacific (formerly known as Abacus) to today, Malaysia Airlines and Sabre have built a strong, strategic partnership based on a common vision, and by working together to provide the best services to agencies and travellers in a competitive and evolving market,” Vilches outlined. “Sabre and Malaysia Airlines are committed to supporting agencies as they innovate, drive efficiencies and seek new opportunities,” he added.

The gala also marked the culmination of a 10-month agency reward program called the 2017 MAB & Sabre Awesome 10-Month promotion, which kicked off in March 2017 and generated significant business growth for Malaysia Airlines on the Sabre platform. During the event, Sabre agents with the most ticketed bookings for Malaysia Airlines were rewarded with prizes, and the top agent received the grand prize, a Nissan Grand Livina.

“Malaysia Airlines is pleased to collaborate with Sabre on unique programmes such as the 2017 MAB initiative, which help drive performance across the market and contribute to increased cohesion among our teams and agents,” mentioned Ismail, speaking for the first time at a trade event in his new role as CEO of Malaysia Airlines. “In an industry that is facing constant change, it’s important to build successful, long-term partnerships such as the one that exists between Sabre and Malaysia Airlines.”

Additionally, Sabre is pursuing new projects with Malaysia Airlines and is the first to launch Malaysia Airlines Government Travel Services (GTS) this year. This new service will accelerate the digitization of the booking experience for government official travel on Malaysia Airlines through the Sabre platform, improving productivity and driving efficiency across agencies, government departments and the airline.

With the mission to transform the travel industry and help customers succeed, Sabre has been a travel technology leader for over 50 years and has played a significant role in ground-breaking innovations across the global travel industry – thanks in part to valuable partnerships such as the one with Malaysia Airlines.
