Arturo Garcia Rosa, President and Founder of the SAHIC Latin America Hotel Investment Conferences has announced that Panama-based Copa Airlines will serve as the official airline sponsor for SAHIC Cuba, the first hospitality investment conference to be held in Havana, Cuba May 15-16, 2017.
Copa Airlines will offer a 20% discount off airline tickets for conference attendees and their companion. This offer is valid for travel between May 10-21, 2017, on flights operated by Copa Airlines or Copa Airlines Colombia with routes to Havana, Cuba.
According to the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, conference attendees flying to Havana must have a valid passport or travel document, as well as a visa from the Cuban consular office. For U.S. Citizens, this visa application must be through the Cuban Consular office in Washington D.C., under the “research and professional meetings” criteria. By applying for this visa, attendees will be able to attend the conference and also organize meetings prior to and post-SAHIC Cuba.
Conference attendees arriving from the United States must also take into consideration the changing of currency upon arrival into Havana. U.S. currency is not accepted in Cuba and must be exchanged into the Cuban Convertible Peso (CUCs). The currency exchange from U.S. dollars to Convertible Pesos is subject to a 10% charge. Transactions in other currencies including Canadian dollars, Euro, UK pounds and Swiss Francs are not taxed when exchanged for Convertible pesos.
The following credit cards are accepted in Cuba (if they have not been issues by U.S. banks or their affiliates): Visa, Mastercard International, Access, International Bancomer, Eurocard, Banamex, Diners Club International, and JCB and Carnet.
