While they were all there, this group travelled to Derawan Islands situated in Berau regency in East Kalimantan. Indryono Soesilo who is the marine tourism acceleration team head said that it is a very attractive place since it has a clean beach with a large number of coral reefs and fishes.
A few yachters feel that Derawan is beautiful since the water is also, really clean with a number of fish species.
Derawan Islands include four main islands: Sangalaki, Kakaba, Derawan and Maratua. In order to access Derawan, travellers need to travel by sea from Tarakan or Balikpapan. The rent price for a boat is Rp 1,500,000 ($112) and they are capable of using the boat for one entire day.
The travel time from Derawan to Kakaban is about 45 minutes and from Kakaban to Sangalaki is about 30 minutes.
Tourists should make it a point not to miss the Jellyfish Lake in Kakaban and the captive breeding of turtles in Sangalaki. International yachters of Sail Indonesia 2017 is presently sailing across the archipelago prior to their final meeting at Sail Sabang 2017 that would be conducted on 28th November.
