Sanctions lifted on IranDespite state warning of travelling to Iran, since the US government lifted its sanction on Iran, bookings have remarkably increased with U.S.  tourists showing great interest to visit the destination.

The surge has suddenly caught up, as if people were waiting for this opportunity to be there. Tour operators feel that bookings have gone up increasingly.

Tour operators feel that the surge is somewhat like Cuba which experienced the same rush when sanctions lifted for the country. Top tour operators feel that now that tourists have the opportunity they want to experience the destination before it gets flooded by more tourists or the sanctions return with military clashes.

For the Europeans, Iran has always been a favored destination. According a report published by the Iranian tourism 5 million foreign travelers visited Iran in 2014. The country has set huge targets and hopes to hit $30 billion by 2025.

Being an extraordinary destination with historic wonders, 19 Unesco World Heritage Sites, are in Iran. The terrain is diverse with desert and local ski resorts. There are many places that echo the relics of the golden past of their civilization.

Air France has recently announced that it will start three fights weekly between Paris and Tehran. Iran is a one stop destination for Turkish Airlines, Emirates or Qatar Airways flying from New York via Istanbul, Dubai or Doha.

There’s a mixed feeling towards Americans from the Iranians. When they hear a person converse in English they assume that they are British. Some are happy to meet Americans when they learn about their nationality, but the undercurrent of hostility is subtle but quite strong among most. American citizens are at risk and should exert caution while visiting the destination.

Tour operators are however quite excited in organising fresh trips. Some operators who still require clearance are looking forward to working in Iran. Iran however on its part is quite ready to welcome its American tourists with a dozen new hotels being built in the past two years. However some operators still complain that there is need to bring up more hotels in areas beyond the city with the anticipated surge of tourists now for America.

However it won’t be all easy for American Tourists as acquiring their visa which may take months, Also Americans will have to be accompanied by guides. Americans will not be allowed to access their Credit Cards or A.T.M.s and will have to carry cash. Women will need to cover their heads and wear long dresses covering every part of their bodies from head to toe. Men will also not be allowed to wear shorts. Alcohol will not be permitted and public bathrooms are not at par with what people would like, also the roads could be developed better.
