Saudi Arabia has introduced robotic technology in citizenship, named Sophia,which according to Saudi Arabia Government will ease for the approval of citizenship. The robot- Sophia, appeared playing without an “abaya’, a head covering and cloak usually required of women by the Saudi government.
This robotic technology first revealed in the Future Investment Initiative summit being held in Riyadh. Hanson Robotics, the company that developed the robot, hails referred as the most beautiful and celebrated robot.
Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia manages more than $200 billion USD in assets, including the lavish investments in Uber, online taxi booking application.
With advancement in technology and innovation, Riyadh still faces disapproval and criticism for ancient and age old gender laws that require women to be accompanied by a male guardian and only just granted women the right to drive, a change that’s expected to go into effect in June of 2018.
Last month, the government of Saudi Arabia announced that it would open itself to VoIP calling services like Skype and WhatsApp.
The designer Madeline Gannon suggested that the robotic automation, despite its benefits, is arriving at a great human cost. Madeline Gannon also clarifies that it should be clear by now is that the robots are here to stay. So, rather than continue down the path of engineering our own obsolescence, now is the time to rethink how humans and robots will coexist on this planet.
In the matter of criticism, that more than 100 leaders in the field of scientific technology, including Elon Musk, have signed an open letter calling on the United Nations to issue a ban on killer robots.
