After the Saudi Vision 2030 was announced, the country’s efforts to boost the non-oil reserves have motivated the Saudis to explore the kingdom more than ever.
A forecaster has also said that Saudi Arabia would be a spectator to a 40% increase in domestic vacations by the year 2020. Nikola Kosutic who is the research manager at Euromonitor International stated that the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCHTH) has started investing generously in boosting the scene of domestic tourism that has been responsible for the launching of many fresh initiatives.
Euromonitor International has identified Makkah as the most important attraction of the kingdom on account of religious tourism along with Madinah.
On the other hand, the Eastern Province and Riyadh are very popular among the corporate travellers. Adil A. Minief Mohammed who is the chairman of the Hospitality Committee at Jeddah Chamber of Commerce (JCCI) told the media that in order to boost the domestic tourism here, the General Entertainment Authority is focusing more on various entertainment activities throughout the kingdom.
He added that they are planning to have a forum in May.
In this forum, experts from public and private sectors would actively participate and discuss the mission of the hospitality committees and also speak about the possibilities of increasing and promoting domestic tourism in Saudi Arabia. Also, he feels that the tourism and hospitality sectors are interesting areas for creating employment and even investment opportunities.
The government is currently offering loads to youths of this country who are ken to invest in tourism.
