The Secretary-General of the Tourism Organization met with Syrian Minister to relaunch tourism

indexOn Sunday, Bishr Yazigi, the Syrian Tourism Minister met with Taleb Rifai, the Secretary-General of the Tourism Organization (UNWTO) along with the accompanying delegation.

 
Yazigi explained that the impending stage in terms of the tourism industry should pay attention to “the business and religious tourism” as an important means for revitalizing the areas freed from terrorism by the Syrian Arab army. Also, the minister pointed out the future projects being set to promote Syrian tourism industry, and the call for to instruct staff members specialized in tourism.

 
Rifai in return pointed out the need of investment opportunities in Syria, mentioning that it is crucial to consider the ways to put together tourism with the environment and the local community.

 
Later on, Yazigi, Rifai and the associated delegation visited the National Visual Arts center and numerous archeological sites in the old city of Damascus.

 
Syria is a member of UNWTO. This was UNWTO Secretary-General’s one of the newest official trips.  Rifai, a Jordanian national will give the helm of his organization to Zurab Pololikashvili from Georgia on January 1.
