Selous Game Reserve is one of the biggest wildlife parks in the world. Game reserve is still quite famous among senior citizens and is known as Grandmother’s Field. A rich and precious inheritance to mankind, the Selous Game Reserve collaborates with unmatched wildlife starting right from the smallest midge to the oldest elephant patriarch. This game reserve is well-known for being the largest concentration of elephants with 110,000 herds.
Its spread across 50,000 square kilometers, this exotic game reserve is one of the largest protected wildlife reserves in the world and one of the exclusive backwoods of Africa.
Besides elephants, the Selous Game Reserve is situated in southern Tanzania and is the home to many exotic species like cheetahs, giraffes, black rhinos, hippos, and crocodiles and is quite away from the humans. Also, the reserve shelters Africa’s biggest crocodiles, hippos, wild dogs, and buffaloes. While walking through its scenic landscapes with golden grass, green bush, riverine marshes, bountiful lakes and mighty Rufiji River, one will definitely encounter groves of mango trees as well.
Not to forget, these mango trees serve as a memento of a sad 18th and 19th century disaster which took place in this land, the Arab Slave Trade.
