For 2017, Serbia has been chosen as the vice-chair of the Executive Council of the UNWTO. The chair will be Azerbaijan, as mentioned by the Serbian Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications on Wednesday.
Tourism is a primary sector in the government of Serbia’s agenda, as mentioned by the Deputy Minister of Tourism Renata Pindzo, at the 104th session of the Executive Council of UNWTO in Luxor, Egypt.
Serbia aims to attract tourists from markets like China and South Korea and for that it invests in regional cooperation and tourism initiatives. Mr. Pindzo mentioned that Serbia supports sustainable tourism and will participate in marking 2017 as the year of sustainable tourism. He supported the UNWTO’s idea about forming a work group about security in tourism, with reference to the recent challenges faced by the tourism sector worldwide.
