So far, Hello Kitty has been among the favorite cartoon characters in the entire Asian subcontinent. Therefore, the very fact that this forty-three-year-old cat is going to get her own theme park in the region of Shanghai is not much of a surprise.
As per the plans, the theme park would be spread across three floors in the Shanghai Mart Retail Mall that would be from the eighth to the tenth floor. This implies that this amazing Hello Kitty wonderland would occupy a space that is equivalent in size to nearly five Olympic swimming pools.
This indoor theme park would be constructed in downtown Nanjing Dong Lu.
It would be priced around RMB200 million. Shimao would be the company that would be operating this unique theme park. It is estimated that Hello Kitty fans would account for an overwhelming footfall in this park, therefore it would reach to about 3,000 tourists per day.
Every floor would be designed around different eras in the history of Shanghai.
One of them is believed to portray the glamour of Shanghai during the 1930’s. Currently, Hello Kitty is believed to be worth seven billion US dollars a year. Already, Kitty White, the iconic creature is the star of two Japanese theme parks.
The entire area of the Shanghai Mall Mart would be housing the Theme Park and it is anticipated that it would be redesigned by an Italian architect that would just be in time for the opening of the Hello Kitty theme park.
