A four-city roadshow from 9 – 12 October was organised in Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Ahmedabad respectively by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), Govt. of Sharjah. The objective of the event was to increase the visibility of the emirate as a cultural, business, leisure and educational destination among Indian travellers and increase the engagement with education boards, the tourism sector, policy makers and the business community.
H. E. Khalid Jasim Al Midfa Naiken, Chairman, SCTDA, said, “We want to promote Sharjah as a cultural and education destination for Indian travellers. Sharjah has a lot to offer in terms of tourism, culture and commerce and it is imperative that the scope of engagement between both countries should now be taken to the second level. India is one of the most crucial and promising tourism markets for Sharjah and the emirate every year attracts thousands of tourists and visitors from the country. It is also a safe destination for women and we want to highlight that.”
Sharjah’s hotels and resorts are witnessing a significant surge in tourist arrivals. The heavy turnout at beach hotels and resorts in the emirate has exceeded expectations. Numerous cultural, artistic, entertainment and shopping festivals hosted by Sharjah, not to mention special promotions offered by major malls and shopping centres since the beginning of the year, have added to the emirate’s attractions in the eyes of visitors
