Showcasing Ireland to international media heavy-weights

Seafood_Waterford_Galway-Montage_WebApril has been a busy month for Fáilte Ireland as it played host to a number of significant international media from target countries such as The US, and Europe.

 

Earlier this month a group of European and US media representing online and print media with a combined audience of over 5 million toured the Wild Atlantic Way enjoying a tailor-made seafood-focused trip around Donegal and Sligo.

 

The group enjoyed the vast selection of seasonal and local produce on the Wild Atlantic Way and also had the chance to learn more about how Ireland is becoming increasingly popular as a food destination.

 

Meanwhile, images of Ireland’s Ancient East were seen in the homes of millions of Americans last week as Evine Live TV, a major US shopping channel, broadcast live from the Medieval City. Evine Live TV has more than 80 million viewers and this was the first time the channel has filmed live outside the USA.

 

The crew visited and filmed various spots across Waterford including The House of Waterford Crystal, Bishop’s Palace, Greyfriars-Waterford Viking Triangle, and Waterford Castle and included live interviews covering Kells, Bru na Boinne, Rock of Cashel as well as Irish spirits and beers such as Middleton Distillery and Smithwick’s Brewery Experience, Kilkenny.

 

Speaking about the trips, which were organised by Fáilte Ireland in conjunction with Tourism Ireland, Ciara Sugrue, Head of International Publicity with Fáilte Ireland commented:
“Hosting international media heavy-weights such as these give us a great opportunity to put Ireland on the radar of so many potential visitors. These visiting media were a natural fit for us. Not only did we get an opportunity to showcase the selection of seafood experiences available on the Wild Atlantic Way, we also has some of Ireland;s Ancient East’s best storytellers on hand to ensure the experiences available in the East and South were well and truly brought to life!”
A further group of leading US media representing well known publications such as HarpersBazaar.com, NBC Atlanta and Forbes Travel Guide sampled some of Ireland’s top class hotels, including Ashford Castle, Co Mayo, The Marker and The Merrion Hotel, Dublin.

 

The group, who were invited by representatives of The Leading Hotels of The World group, enjoyed a walking tour of Galway City which was organised by Fáilte Ireland highlighting all that Galway and the West of Ireland has to offer from culture and heritage to local Irish cuisine .
