Forming the new backdrop of the Melbourne International Airport arrivals terminal, Victoria Minister for Tourism and Major Events Louise Asher recently unveiled a spectacular new video display wall showcasing iconic Victorian tourism attractions.
Ms Asher was joined by Melbourne Airport Chief Executive Officer Chris Woodruff in revealing the new display which was produced in partnership with the Victorian Coalition Government and Melbourne Airport.
“International visitors to Victoria increased by over three per cent year-on-year to 1.79 million visitors this year. The state also experienced an almost five per cent growth in expenditure from international leisure and business travellers which increased to $4.4 billion for the year ending September 2012,” Ms Asher said.
“This new display will be the first impression of what is on offer in Victoria to international tourists as they arrive into Melbourne, and I am delighted to be able to showcase such destinations as Wilsons Promontory, the snow fields at Falls Creek and the majestic 12 Apostles on the Great Ocean Road.”
Mr Woodruff said that Melbourne Airport was experiencing steady passenger growth.
“Almost seven million international passengers passed through Melbourne Airport over the last year and we are delighted to have worked with Tourism Victoria to showcase the highlights of our wonderful state to international passengers as they arrive at Victoria’s aviation gateway.
