The Indian Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment (Independent Charge) and MP from Telangana , Shri Bandaru Dattatreya met the Union Minister of State for Culture (Independent Charge), Tourism (Independent Charge) and Civil Aviation, Dr. Mahesh Sharma in New Delhi today to discuss the prospects of promoting tourism in the state of Telangana. Mr Dattatreya was accompanied by Chairman of Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC), Shri Pervaram Ramulu.
In the meeting, they discussed the potential of promoting tourism in the newly created State of Telengana. Shri Bandaru Dattatreya said that there is a lot of potential in Telengana for the development of Tourism sector. Telengana has a rich and unique identity of possessing a traditional tribal culture. This tribal belt extends for nearly two hundred kilometer between Nagarjunasagar Dam and Srisailam , he explained. These tribes and their rich ethnic art, culture and traditions can help to promote tourism in the region.
Mr Ramulu explained that Telengana is also known for the tiger reserves and wildlife especially in the Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve (NSTR) area. Appreciating Shri Dattatreya’s views, Dr. Mahesh Sharma agreed that the state of Telangana should be extended all possible help to promote tourism which will also help generate income and employment for the local people. He also said that the Prime Minister , Shri Narendra Modi has also been laying emphasis on the State of Telengana for looking at possibilities of developing it with a new vision.
The Tourism Ministry will make all efforts to ensure that Telengana is developed as a tourist destination and its potential will be explored very soon, Dr Mahesh Sharma added.
