The airfares for essential business routes and favorable tourist destinations including New York, Jakarta, Shanghai and Kuala Lumpur had declined to over 5% year-on-year in January to September 2017 as compared to the previous time period as per the Business Travel Pulse Singapore that is released by CWT Solutions Group and CAPA Aviation Centre.
The airfares for places like Houston, Sydney, London and Hong Kong also decreased by 1 to 5% year-on-year.
Richard Johnson who is the director, Asia Pacific, CWT Solutions Group mentioned this in a statement in a report in a leading travel news media website. The main airport of Singapore, Changi Airport has over 80 operational airlines that connect Singapore to over 90 nations and territories across the world.
The report also noted that the freshly opened terminal 4 at Changi Airport is going to eliminate capacity pressures since it can accommodate 16 million passengers.
In terms of passenger pressure Changi Airport had dealt with 41 million passengers from January to August marking a year-on-year increase of 5.7%.
