This major recognition adds to the Sacred Valley’s (Cusco region) recent mention in The New York Times’ prestigious “52 Places to Go in 2017” edition.
Bloomberg highlights the country’s increasing tourism services, such as the first luxury sleeper train connecting Cusco to traditional villages around Lake Titicaca, to be inaugurated in May.
It invites visitors take in the breathtaking views of Veronica and Sawasiray snow-capped mountains, as well as the Incan salt pans of Maras, in addition to Machu Picchu.
For the adventure tourist, Bloomberg lists “stunningly remote treks” with travel operators as well as “off-the-beaten-path” trips for bikers.
The list also mentions another Peruvian must-see: Lake Titicaca in South-Andean Puno region. This mystical spot and its “endless horizon” await those who dare venture into uncrowded routes.
The other top 20 travel destinations include Finland, Portugal, Sri Lanka, Iran and Colombia.
