SMRT Corporation Ltd, one of the leading multi-modal transportation system in Singapore and named as the one of the oldest transportation system in the country has fired eight employees and disciplined three others for their job responsibilities which led the flooding incident last month.
The employees of SMRT Corporation Ltd who were dismissed including the staff who had falsified pump maintenance records and executives tasked to oversee the work.
The probe of SMRT also found a Vice President and a Senior Manager had failed to work out the sufficient supervision and the company reserves its right to pursue legal action against them.
There are three management executives were disciplined for failing to exercise the due care and diligence expected of them.
The rail system of Singapore has been overwhelmed in recent weeks by disruptions, including a lightning strike following a software problem that caused a train collision that left more than 30 injured including the local people and the tourists.
The tunnel flooding in the last month that is the month of October led to a deferral of some services for 20 hours.
The transport woes have prompted an apology from the city-state’s transport minister, while Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said the incidents have hurt public confidence including the tourists, who come here to visit the places of attraction.
