The green team of Sir Albert Amsterdam’s hotel has planned for a green month to aware the staff members of the hotel. Posters talking about sustainability at the backyard of the hotel, serving organic lunch to the guests along with green flags setting up all across the hotel premises created a festive atmosphere.
This boutique hotel is situated in De Pijp and has 90 rooms. It has been certified by Green Globe for sustainable hospitality for three consecutive years. To quote, Sebastiaan Schaafsma, President of Sir Albert’s Green Team, ‘’ 2016 in particular has been a very successful year. We are very proud of the team efforts put into the hotel’s sustainability program. People in every layer of the organization are aware of the impact their actions have on the environment.”
Team members participated in the program and provided their suggestions on ways to make hotel operation more sustainable like the housekeeping staffs watered the plants in and around with remaining water in mineral water bottles left by the guests and saving the tap water thereafter. Kitchen team lights up the grill 30 minutes prior to the service. This saves on charcoal and emission of CO2.
