In Lonely Planet’s ‘Best in Travel 2017’, Skellig Ring in Ireland has been named one of the top 10 regions of the world to visit in 2017. Lonely Planet has described Skellig Ring as “perhaps Ireland’s most charismatically wild and emerald stretch of coastline”. This UNESCO World Heritage Site featured in Star Wars: the Force Awakens, and is set to play an even bigger role in Episode VIII next year. Although the Skelligs received huge publicity this year, the Skellig Ring is comparatively lesser known compared to Ring of Kerry.
Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland said that this recognition is a welcoming boost and a great marketing means and will surely put Ireland in a better position in world tourism map and attract more travelers for 2017. Tourism Ireland will promote the Skellig Ring with a new video and a page on Ireland.com
Shane Ross minister of tourism said that they are happy that the Skellig Ring has been acclaimed as a place of rugged and outstanding beauty and it should be on every traveler’s wish list. People have already started booking for 2017 for visiting this beautiful place.
