The review features more than 420 airlines worldwide. Customers rate their flights across eight categories that include seat comfort, onboard services, food & beverages, inflight entertainment, onboard wifi, airport services and value for money.
Skytrax do not use customer review scores for airline rating due to review platforms representing only a limited expression of customer sentiment.
According to the website, the “most loved airline” is Vistara, which is an Indian based joint venture between Tata and Singapore Airlines.
Asian Airlines dominate 11 of the top 15 positions. Some of the airlines in the top 10 positions are, Garuda Indonesia, Asiana Airlines and EVA Air.
Europe’s most loved airlines is Athens based Aegean Airlines, followed by Lufthansa and Aer Lingus.
The low cost budget airlines may be associated with small seats and limited legroom, but a number of them have surpassed British Airways to top the list of the Most Loved Airlines. Ryanair has improved considerably from last year and now scores 6% higher than British Airways.
Britain’s legacy carrier ranked behind low-cost airlines such as Jet2, easyJet, Ryanair, Monarch and Flybe in a study based on thousands of passenger reviews.
British Airways ranked 58th overall in the survey (56 per cent).
Last month, Skytrax named Emirates the best airline in the world ahead of Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines.
In this study it ranked 35th with a satisfaction score of 63 per cent.
