Yas Island, one of the UAE’s most dynamic entertainment destinations, is partnering with UAE Red Crescent between Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha for the ‘Joy of Eid’, an initiative that will see smiles and donations collected on Yas Island, be used to build two schools in Pakistan and Mauritania.
During the campaign, which will run between Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha, every smile generated on Yas Island and donated virtually on social media via the hashtag #YasJoyOfEid, will see Yas Island make a contribution towards the construction of the schools and playgrounds.
The Joy of Eid initiative will also see cash donation boxes pop up across the island’s 16 attractions including Yas Waterworld, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Yas Mall to encourage visitors to share a smile and donate to children in need.
Commenting on the initiative, Mohamed Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral, said: “Yas Island’s ‘Joy of Eid’ initiative is really about sharing the joy, fun and of course, the smiles we see daily on Yas Island, with children in developing countries. Through partnering with the Red Crescent and building these two schools and playgrounds, we will share the joy of learning and play, from children and families in the UAE, with children, families, and their wider communities, in Pakistan and Mauritania.”
All funds collected during ‘Joy of Eid’ will be used to build two schools, located in remote communities of Pakistan and Mauritania. Each school will have four classrooms as well as a playground, to encourage the importance of play alongside education.
To celebrate the launch of the campaign and the first day of Eid, there will be a free firework display, open to the public on Wednesday July 6th, at 9:00pm on Yas Island between du Forum and Yas Beach.
The success of ‘Joy of Eid’ will also be celebrated in September with a second firework spectacular during Eid Al Adha, which is set to be open to the public as a token of gratitude on behalf of Yas Island and Red Crescent for those who took part in the initiative through their smiles, donations or both.
“Everyday thousands of people smile and create special memories with family and friends across Yas Island, and this year we are delighted to share this warmth with those in need. We are thrilled to be able to extend the generosity of the season and the Yas Island and UAE community between Eid Al Fitr until Eid Al Adha,” added Mr Al Zaabi.
