Snow affects flights from Luton and Stansted

airplane-perfectStansted airport was compelled to temporarily shut down its runway on 27th December to permit their staff members to clear away the snow.


The runway based at the Essex airport was reopened around 10 a.m. to make it possible for flights to resume operations but then its passengers have all been warned about delays and cancellations.


In a statement Stansted mentioned that owing to adverse weather conditions the runway was temporarily closed for snow clearance and has now reopened.


He went on to add that flight delays and cancellations are expected and they would be advising passengers to check the status of their flight with the airlines prior to travelling to the airport.


Luton airport had also warned about potential delays and cancellations to flights on Wednesday.


The airport authorities said that the airport is open and the runway is operational. Some of the flights might be subject to delay and even cancellation. They went on to assert that this is the reason why passengers need to check with the airlines for the status of their flight.


Ryanair mentioned that the snow in the United Kingdom had triggered delays and even some cancellations to flights.
