Member for Monaro John Barilaro said Snowtunes was an exciting addition to the 2016 NSW Events Calendar, set to attract many first-time visitors to the Snowy Mountains region and would showcase the region’s spectacular alpine scenery, unique accommodation and variety of activities.
“I am delighted to announce that the NSW Government has secured this event through our tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW for the next three years, cementing our commitment to supporting regional tourism across the State,” Mr Barilaro said.
“The 2016 event will be held in September, helping to further encourage stronger visitation outside of the traditional, peak snow season.“With the new Rex Express air service operating between Sydney and the Snowy Mountains, this wonderful region is now more accessible for domestic and international visitors, and I encourage everyone to begin planning their trip to the Snowy Mountains for this exciting musical festival.”
Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said, “Snowtunes is expected to attract more than 10,000 international and domestic visitors and generate more than $2.4 million in visitor expenditure over the three-year period.
“The Snowy Mountains is home to Australia’s five highest peaks, including Mt Kosciuszko and offers a broad range of accommodation for a variety of budgets, providing Snowtunes attendees the perfect opportunity to further explore the region and discover why NSW is Australia’s premier tourism and events State.”
