Roane Alliance launched ‘Soak in Roane’ which is cannon at Fort Southwest Point on Wednesday. This social media campaign has a contest and ‘Soak in Roane’ is all set to create awareness of the brand statewide. The contest has two parts – caption this and grand prize winner which would be declared on September 9th at Muir Fest. Uncle Lem’s Mountain Outfitters donated a kayak and a camping weekend at Caney Creek RV Resort.
To quote Pam May, vice president of Roane Alliance, the county’s economic development organization, ‘We want more visitors; we want people to know more about this place. Visitors spent $65 million last year, and we are in the Top 25 (most-visited) counties in the state. So, we want to build on that.’ Annually there are 450 tourism-related jobs in Roane County, according to May and the campaign aims to build upon that.
To quote Wade Creswell, Alliance President and CEO, ‘The whole point (of tourism) is to attract people who don’t live here to spend their money here. With the launch of this new campaign, our plans include promoting the best of Roane County in ways that have not been possible before.”
