American AirlinesA passenger of American Airlines stated that a flight attendant of the American Airlines flight that he was traveling in had drenched him when a soft drink he was carrying spilled against him.

The incident compelled the pilot to opt for an emergency landing in the US. But then, the airline authorities have mentioned that it was solely the fault of the passenger. It was travelling from Miami to Chicago and had to be diverted on Monday afternoon on account of a drink mishap.

As many as 150 people were on board the Boeing 737 flight when the plane had landed safely in the region of Jacksonville immediately after a soft drink splashed on an electronic appliance in the main cabin of the airplane. The crew members of the flight had to make an emergency landing, as per Matt Miller who is the spokesman for American Airlines.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently investigating the incident.

The passengers were left stranded at the airport after the incident. Miller said that the plane is presently undergoing inspection to determine whether it would be able to continue or an additional aircraft is necessary.

According to the airline authorities, the passenger was to blame for the incident.

However, the airline passenger named Preston Wake said that he had been seated on row 7 on the flight. During this point of time, a flight attendant had ended up spilling the drinks on him abruptly. So, he was completely drenched. He complained that he had to change his clothes due to it.

Wake, however, appreciated the airline staff for their cooperation since they had offered snacks to the passengers while they were waiting to be transported in an alternative airliner.

He said that they had been taking care of everybody and he is quite glad with the results.

A spokesman for Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, Tom Francis said that the department had units on standby after they had received an alert about the unexpected stop.
