As part of the call of South African Tourism Department to all of their responsible citizens not to travel now, so that all can travel later, these two inspirational TVCs campaign videos have been launched giving further hope to South Africans during the 21-day lockdown. Thus it is reinforcing the message that South Africa and it’s people will travel and welcome the world again after COVID-19 or coronavirus.
The South African Government has issued 21 days lockdown, which is an attempt to curb the spread of coronavirus, now a global pandemic. In recent months, the travel world has come to a standstill. Many airlines companies has stopped flying to high-risk COVID-19 areas, and many countries imposed travel and tourism bans.
The international travellers, in fear of contracting the virus, shied away from travel. They instead opted to cancel their plans until the situation improved. Travel job security in the travel sector was under great threat.
This deadly coronavirus situation got to the point that many countries went into lockdown, shutting down major tourist attractions that drove their economy and many airlines temporarily suspended their flights.
These two 90 second videos released by South Africa Tourism are an emphasis on the importance of heeding to the Presidents call to stay home in a bid to flatten the curve and curb the spread of the virus. The videos flaunt picturesque shots of many much-loved South African tourist attractions but with nobody in sight, further highlighting the importance of everyone to be responsible and stay safe.
Both the videos showcase the country in a hibernation type state with the echoing message being that if “we can stay home today, we’ll be able to travel again soon”.
