South West TrainsThe South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance is helping to support the health charity Movember through a number of events this month including fixing moustaches to the front of 20 of its trains.

The Movember charity, which aims to raise funds to fight prostate and testicular cancer and raise awareness about mental health issues, helps fund many charities and support groups across the South West Trains network.

To help raise awareness of this year’s Movember campaign, the South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance is fixing 40 moustaches to 20 of its 458 trains that operate on the Waterloo to Reading line. Staff from the Alliance are also helping to raise funds for the cause.

At Wimbledon traincare depot, Fleet Director for the South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance Christian Roth, who is growing his own Mo for Movember was joined by Movember’s Communities Manager Jon Sim to help place the moustache on the front of the final train.

Christian Roth said: “I’m delighted that we are able to help raise awareness of a charity that is dedicated to such worthy causes. Awareness is key to preventing and curing these diseases and as a train operator we’re pleased to beable to promote the issue with our customers and staff whilst raising money for local charities.”

Movember’s Communities Manager Jon Sim said: “We’re thrilled the South West Trains- Network Rail Alliance is getting on board and we’re excited about seeing as many Mo Bros and Mo Sistas on the network as possible.   It should prove a very visible display of support for our campaign.”

To help promote the special trains, the South West Trains- Network Rail Alliance is also holding a competition to ‘#SpotaMoTrain’. Anyone who spots a train wearing a ‘Movember’ moustache is encouraged to take a picture and tweet it to @SW_trains using the hashtag #SpotaMoTrain.  Passengers are also asked to suggest a name for the train because on Friday 29 November each train sporting a Mo will be named after a well known moustached person.

On the same day a winner will be picked at random to receive a free one month season ticket to travel on the South West Trains network. Three runners up will each receive a first class day return ticket for a family of four to any location on the South West Trains network.
