Southampton Airport celebrates another busiest summer on record

Published on : Friday, September 8, 2017

Southampton AirportAugust proved to be the airport’s busiest month on record with 225,682 passengers whilst 219,874 passengers used the airport in July. Prior to this year, the airport’s busiest month had been in August 2016 when 219,757 passengers took to the skies.

Southampton Airport hopes to see the trend in passenger numbers rising, continue into winter, especially with the introduction of its new airlines, easyJet, which will be operating flights to Geneva three times a week from December 14th, and powdair, which will be flying to Sion four times a week from December 15th.

Dave Lees, Managing Director at Southampton Airport, says ‘It is brilliant to be able to announce yet another record breaking summer here at Southampton Airport. It is a clear indication that when more routes are on offer, people would rather fly from their local airport than have the hassle of traveling to London. We hope the arrival of new ski routes with easyJet and powdair this winter will bring even more people to Southampton Airport.”
