Southampton Airport is launching a new flight to Bastia in Corsica with Flybe, which begins on 24th May. To mark the occasion, the airport will be holding a special Corsica-themed event where it’ll be possible to try some local food & drink and speak to destination experts.
On 28th May between 1pm and 7pm, passengers and the general public are invited to visit the Corsica stand to try local wine, meat, cheese and cake courtesy of Corsica Tourism, Bastia Tourism and Bastia Airport. Specialists from local tour operators Just Corsica and Corsican Places will also be on hand to talk about their packages to the mountainous Mediterranean island, as well as friendly staff from Flybe.
Situated on the southwest coast of Italy, Corsica is a rare island gem with astonishing diversity. As the fourth largest island in the Med it has 600 miles of glorious sun-kissed coastline. Discover mountains and forests, glittering harbours and white sand beaches, and a slice of island life with something for everyone.
Dave Lees, Managing Director of Southampton Airport, said: “We’re delighted to add yet another summer sun destination to our programme, making holidays from Southampton Airport even more attractive. Working with tourist boards from the destination, we’ll be giving our passengers a real taste of Corsica as the new route launches.”
Paul Trojani, President of Bastia Airport, Chamber Of Commerce & Industry Bastia and High Corsica added: “I welcome the new partnership with Southampton Airport, Flybe and the Corsica Tourist Board. With 2 weekly frequencies, Thursday and Sunday, this new opportunity offered throughout the summer season is the best way to discover Corsica as a destination. This little Mediterranean gem will give you a mixture of natural beauty and authenticity of the region”.
