The passengers on board a Dallas-bound Southwest Airlines flight used to escape the slides to evacuate the plane after the smoke and odour filled the aircraft cabin, marking an emergency landing in New Mexico.
The Southwest flight 3562 departed Phoenix Sunday night and was headed for Dallas Love Field when the passengers reported smoke in the Boeing 737’s cabin. An initial investigation by the management of the airport authorities indicated an electrical fire on board.
The ported that the two people were taken to local hospitals. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known. There are several emergency vehicles which could be seen on the runway after the plane landed. Boeing 737 contained 140 passengers. Everyone was safely evacuated.
A Dallas police officer aboard the flight tweeted in the social media that Dallas-based Southwest’s flight attendants “did a great job!”
