The survey of 1,000 people voted the country top with 19% of the vote, followed by Italy with 15% and Euro 2016 host, France at 9%. Spain and Greece share the top spot in the ‘friendliest locals’ category, both gaining 12% of the vote, followed by Malta with 10%. Portugal was named the third best for its friendly locals with 8%.
Spain was also ahead of Greece and France, in terms of best destination for a night out. Spain prides itself with one of the finest and most varied nightlife scenes in Europe. From the world famous clubs of Ibiza- the continent’s party capital – to Madrid’s sassy, never-ending nights, the kingdom welcomes revellers with a myriad of entertaining opportunities.Greece was named the second best destination for a night out with 8% of the vote, followed by France with 7%.
According to the survey by On the Beach, Spain was also named as the top destination for beaches, followed by Greece and Portugal’s Algrave. The Portuguese Algarve region which is home to more than 80 Blue Flag beaches came in third spot, with 10% of the vote.
Although food is integral to Spain as its rich history, with each of Spain’s regions home to a range of unique cuisines and flavours.
Alistair Daly, chief marketing officer, On the Beach said that, Spain really is the big winner in the survey, hitting the top spot in all but one category. He also added that, Spain is set to welcome more holidaymakers than ever before this year but for those looking to experience something different, Greece and the Algarve offer some of the best resorts in Europe.
