Tourism Ireland joined forces with Luxair over the weekend, to promote the island of Ireland at the Vakanz 2016 travel fair in Luxembourg.
Vakanz is the largest annual holiday expo in Luxembourg, attracting thousands of travellers in search of ideas and suggestions for their next short break or holiday. Luxair, the national airline of Luxembourg, has increased its flights to Dublin to six times weekly, making it easier than ever for Luxembourgers to get to Dublin and Ireland.
Danielle Neyts, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Belgium, said: “We were delighted to co-operate with Luxair at Vakanz, which was an excellent opportunity to position the island of Ireland as a ‘must see’ destination for 2016 and to highlight ease of access between Luxembourg and Dublin. 2015 was a very good year for visitor numbers from the Benelux region to Ireland, with the most recent CSO figures showing an increase of +38% for September to November.”
Promoting the Wild Atlantic Way and the Causeway Coastal Route will continue to be a major focus of Tourism Ireland’s activity in the Benelux region, and elsewhere around the world, in 2016. The organisation will highlight Dublin and Belfast and will unveil Ireland’s Ancient East, as well as Northern Ireland’s Year of Food and Drink.
