At the opening ceremony of the ninth session of the Spring of Arabic Poetry Festival, Sheikh Salman, also president of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), said, that the country has become a main destination for Arab intellectuals and literary people.
“The festival highlights Kuwait’s contributions to culture, civilisation and humanities, at the behest of the country’s political leadership, at the core of which are the Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Crown Prince, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah,” the minister said.
He welcomed the Arab poets to the festival.
The three-day event is being organised by Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation, under the auspices of the Prime Minister, Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, at the theatre of Al-Babtain Central Library.
Sheikh Salman added, the agenda of cultural activities in Kuwait, under NCCAL supervision, includes a host of poetic symposia and seminars, with celebrated poets from across the Arab world taking part.
Meanwhile, the board chairman of Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation, said, the ninth session of the Spring of Arabic Poetry Festival coincides with the celebration marking Kuwait’s selection as Capital of Islamic Culture for 2016.
