The Savour Tasmania dinner menu was designed by Sri Lankan celebrity chef, Dharshan Munidasa, whose daughter is studying at the University of Tasmania, while his business partner Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara is a brand ambassador for the University of Tasmania.

The Savour Tasmania dinner was a highly successful evening and very well received by all attendees.  There was significant interest in the premium food and beverage that Tasmania produces and a strong commitment to develop Sri Lanka as an important destination for quality Tasmanian produce.

Sri Lanka is a key gateway to other countries in the region through its strategic location, and the Tasmanian Government is committed to developing this relationship and promoting our state as a key study, tourism and sporting destination.

Industry leaders are meeting with counterparts in Sri Lanka to spread this message and further develop trade ties with a strong growing economy in the South Asia region.

The meetings include a business matching event run by the Sri Lanka Australia New Zealand Business Council, with Tasmanian Brand Ambassador and cricketing legend David Boon presenting at the event and promoting Tasmania’s premium produce and investment opportunities.

Additionally, the Tasmanian Government is holding high level meetings with the Sri Lankan State Minister of University Education, the Hon Mohan Lal Grero, which will further cement Sri Lanka as a growing market for international students in Tasmania.

The vocational education sector is also recognised as a key source of international students, and this is being promoted to Sri Lanka’s minister the Hon Mahinda Samarasinghe.
