One of the leading travel companies of the world, Expedia stated that it has been registering a rise in travel demand for St. Lucia especially from travellers reserving rooms with high average daily rates (ADRs).
They book quite in advance and travel to hotels having high star-ratings and/ or book their travel packages through Expedia group.
St. Lucia’s hotel partners had witnessed ADRs about 45% higher than the regional average in 2016 as compared to the performance of other destinations of the Caribbean, as revealed by the group data of Caribbean. The Eastern Caribbean country also reported one of the highest booking window ranging at about 60 days prior to travel. On the other hand, the regional average is about 45 days.
Fresh data from the Expedia group also mentions that United States continued to be the top source market for St. Lucia in 2016 and this was followed by the United Kingdom and Canada (at less than 10%).
Furthermore, US travel to St. Lucia reached the highest in the summer months of June and July of 2016.
It generated 80% of the share of the business for the island during these months. St. Lucia also has been drawing a large number of visitors from France that has seen a rise of 25% in 2016 as compared to the previous year.
Luciano Melo who is the Area Manager for the Caribbean, Expedia Group said that the chief aim of St. Lucia is to connect hotel partners with customers via innovative technologies, tools and global reach.
