Visitor arrivals went up by six per cent at the end of the first quarter according to the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO). St. Lucia recorded 6.4 per cent increase over the same period last year.
St Lucia has showed continuous growth since the first quarter of this year with a 1.4 and 7.2 per cent increase in April and May. In the first five months of the year total stay in the island went up by 5.5 per cent over 2014. Total stay in the island was 159,077 as per the records of CTO.
The figures recorded in the first four months have shown the highest growth in the island’s history. May recorded 29,658 arrivals which is the highest figure reached in the last five years.
Canada too recorded a 10 per cent growth in visitor arrivals; US recorded 9 per cent which have mostly occurred due to its marketing strategy and increase in airlift.
