Niagara FallsNew York State is ready to allocate $3 million to Niagara Falls, particularly for the one-to-two mile radius around the Seneca Niagara Casino.

The officials have started calling this area as the ‘Niagara Falls Tourism Target Zone’.

This amount was set aside in the state budget of this year as well as last year. It actually is pooled from the state’s share of casino payments from the Seneca Nation. From these funds, the county IDA would award grants to accepted projects.

Currently, the plan is not only to fund them, but also to draw in some amount of private investment. People proposing a project would need to contribute at least 20% of the cost. The local leaders are keen to attract business towards the casino to generate revenue and also to benefit the different portions of the city of Niagara Falls.

The nation mentioned that it is willing to support efforts to attract private investment and tourism to Niagara Falls and hopes others would also come forward to build upon the momentum that it had been a part of.
