A team of KwaZulu Natal’s leading designers will be showcasing their work at Decorex Durban, taking place at the Durban Exhibition Centre next month. The designer lineup includes Frans Alexander of Frans Alexander Interiors, Paige Waplington of Re-Design Interiors, Scott Campbell of Uber Haus, Carine Goss of Dodo Design and Bianca Shaw of Slinx.
“Decorex Durban is truly a design-focused show and it’s where both architects and interior designers as well as members of the public can find the latest trends and inspiration,” says Scott Campbell of Uber Haus.
As one of the invited designers taking part in the Private Property Trend House feature, Scott will be showcasing his designs for a state of the art kitchen. “We’ve inverted the traditional kitchen concept to create something quite different but up to the minute in terms international kitchen design trends,” he said.
Look out for his striking black painted kitchen with wooden splash backs plus a taste of the very latest kitchen technology.
“Visitors will be able to experience the new smooth system technology, including drawer runners, touch to open mechanisms, electronic sensors – as well as the cleverest storage ideas ever,” he said.
At the Decorex Designer Spotlight feature, Decorex Durban has partnered with South Africa’s largest fabric house, Home Fabrics, to showcase the work of Durban interior designer Frans Alexander.
Frans, who has chosen a lounge-dining room scene for his stand, will combine seemingly incongruous raw wood and earthy, organic textures with futuristic Perspex, opulent metallics and pops of electric colour.
“Frans’s glamour-chic style has an easy affinity with the stylish new collections on offer from Clarke & Clarke in the UK,” says Marc Shotland of Home Fabrics, local stockist of the exclusive product range: “Think rich embroidered damasks, luscious velvets and woven jacquards in sophisticated neutrals like chartreuse, ebony and ash, all brought to life with bold geometrics and metallic weaves.”
“Superimpose these, then, onto walls dressed in Clarke & Clarke’s Reflections range of embossed vinyl papers, grounded in neutral shades and printed with metallic highlights – bang on trend for 2015,” continues Marc.
Frans says the showstopper feature on his stand will be the stylised chandelier that has been custom designed as a centerpiece over the dining-room table.
Carine Goss, whose business called Dodo Design will relaunch as Spruced at Decorex Durban, says that for a new business, Decorex is the perfect platform to “get your name out there”.
