On 23rd November, Wednesday, a Russian tourist had drowned at Cancun Hotel Zone’s Kilometre 16.5. He was aged about 46 and he had been identified as Mohamed G. He was a guest who was residing the Grand Oasis and he had arrived here with his two children and wife who was 42 years of age. They had come for enjoying a holiday.
The man had entered the water along with his wife.
All of a sudden, they were quickly swept away by strong currents. Thereafter, a lifeguard who was on duty at that time managed to rescue the woman whom he pulled out of the water. But, when he tried to pull out the man, he discovered that his body was lifeless.
Then, the medical representatives and the police appeared on the scene to declare the man deceased.
The police then cordoned off the area. Meanwhile, the body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service in Cancun.
On 24th November, there was a second drowning that was caused by strong undertows. This time, a 28-year-old man drowned while he was swimming at a beach of Playa del Carmen. The incident occurred around 2.30 p.m. in 88th Street’s beach region.
On Monday, some marine rescue officials spotted the body of an Argentine tourist who was diving off Cozumel. The 71-year-old man could not be rescued.
