emergency-landing1Delta Airlines flight 2078 was forced to make an unscheduled landing at Lindbergh after an unprecedented bird strike shortly after takeoff.

According to the airport officials, the Delta Airlines flight was scheduled to fly from San Diego to Salt Lake City. The pilot reported a bird strike ten minutes after the takeoff. The incident prompted the pilot to turn the plane around and head back to the airport. The Delta Airlines flight landed safely at 5:11 pm on Monday.

According to a passenger onboard, the experience was quite scary as the plane suffered some heavy jolts with noise after the bird hit the plane. Although there were no injuries, the incident of emergency landing due to bird strike is almost becoming a routine in the airline industry.

Speculations on this kind of wildlife interaction in the aviation industry are also quite awakening. Since, 1988 almost 250 passengers have lost their lives succumbing to aviation accidents due to bird strike.
