Published on : Wednesday, February 3, 2016

Aboriginal_art_KodjaApplications are now open for a $1.2 million State Government initiative to boost Aboriginal arts centres in regional WA.

The Future Focus for WA Aboriginal Art Centres program aims to develop long-term sustainability for the centres, in recognition of their importance to many Aboriginal artists and communities.

About 25 Aboriginal art centres are located in regional WA, including in remote locations.

The funding will support individual and groups of art centres, as well as peak sector entities, to develop business activities aimed at increasing viability.

The program will also identify strategies for stimulating markets for WA Aboriginal art.

The Future Focus for WA Aboriginal Art Centres is one of five initiatives within the $24 million Creative Regions program, which is administered by the Department of Culture and the Arts (DCA) with support from the State Government’s Royalties for Regions program.
