The event will be a fun day of racing, glamour and entertainment to raise much needed funds for patients at Randwick’s Prince of Wales Hospital.
“Sydney Airport is proud to support the POWHF in raising awareness and funds for the continued development of research, education, health, patient care and special projects,” Sydney Airport managing director and chief executive officer Kerrie Mather said.
“Every donation made to the POWHF will make a difference to patient care and help to build healthier communities, so we encourage the community to come along and support this worthy cause.”
POWHF chief executive officer Leanne M Zalapa thanked Sydney Airport for its $10,000 sponsorship.
“Through our supporters like Sydney Airport and the generosity of individuals, business and community groups, our Foundation continues its vital work in helping the clinicians, nurses and medical staff at our Hospital provide the best care possible for patients,” Ms Zalapa said.
June Stakes Day will be held from 11am on Saturday, 6 June. The day will feature eight main races from midday, including the Sydney Airport Stayers Cup, as well as raffles, prizes and entertainment.
POWHF is the charity arm of the Prince of Wales Hospital, which is committed to health promotion, research and education of disease and health problems of adult patients at the Prince of Wales Hospital, and creating better awareness of the hospital and its work. Since its establishment in 2004, the organisation has raised more than $22 million for vital projects and initiatives, including purchasing equipment and refurbishing departments to align with best practice service delivery.
In 2014, Sydney Airport invested close to $1.5 million in the community, across charities, schools, sporting clubs and other community organisations.
