Taiwan government issues travel alert for Sabah’s east coast

TaiwanFollowing the report of murder of a Taiwanese man in Sabah (Makaysia), the Taiwan government has issued an “orange” travel alert for Sabah’s east coast.

 

The government has warned it citizens to take precaution or avoid travelling to the area unless necessary.

 

The alert was issued by the country’s Foreign Affairs Ministry (MOFA) after a Taiwanese man was shot dead and his wife abducted from the Pom-Pom Island resort off Semporna in Sabah on November 15.

 

“Orange” is the second-highest warning level in Taiwan’s four-colour code travel advisory system.

 

Inspector-General of Police in Sabah Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed the incident, saying it occurred about 1 am when Unidentified gunmen stormed Pom-Pom Island Resort off Sabah’s eastern coast killing Taiwanese tourist Hsu Lim Min, 57, and kidnapping the man’s wife, Chang An Wei, 58.
