From November 6th till 8th, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau participated in London’s World Travel Market to highlight Taiwan as one of the amazing holiday destinations and to focus on sustainable tourism for 2017.
Several meetings were organized by the Tourism Bureau delegation over the time limit of the show with main partners, media and tour operators so as to discover the opportunities to further endorse destinations. Also, these meetings offer the Taiwan Tourism Bureau the best platform to share their previous successes stories with key industry professionals and media.
Last year, Taiwan greeted with open arms around 60,000 tourists from Britain and 2017 has so far proved even more successful for the UK market. From January to September of this year, roughly 46,648 British tourists came to Taiwan representing a 6.5% growth same time last year. The UK market remains one of largest outbound markets in Europe for Taiwan and has grown in leaps and bounds ever since 2013.
Along with this, the past year has witnessed two new tour operators from UK, selling Taiwan products with fifty operators selling the destination, and five UK tour operators increasing their Taiwan offering. The Tourism Bureau has carried on extending agent reach through PATA involvement, engaging with the main sellers and product managers at the regional PATA quizzes and the Taste of PATA event.
The ‘Taiwan Happy Hour’ was the Bureau’s most popular ever with over 100 visitors to the stand in the course of two hours. Visitors were requested to dip themselves in the culture of Taiwan through mouthwatering cuisine, an appearance from Oh! Bear and musical performances by acapella group Sirens, flown over especially from Taiwan.
