Asia has some of the oldest surviving civilizations in the world. The continent is dotted with ancient monuments and sites of cultural tourism, some of which, like the Taj Mahal, are extremely popular globally.
In a survey conducted by travel website Tripadvisor recently, the Taj Mahal ranked a close second after Angkor Vat in Cambodia. The Taj Mahal was ranked sixth globally in the ‘Tripadvisor Choice Awards’.
In the list of ten top tourist sites in India, the Taj still ranks at number one, while Jaipur’s Amber palace comes second, and the Golden Temple of Amritsar is at third. The world-renowned symbol of the Islamic conquest of India, the ‘Qutub Minar’ ranks eighth.
Nikhil Ganju, the country manager of Tripadvisor India said that the tourist spots in India are full of diversity, containing the richest cultures of India. The people of India should be proud to be the successors to this cultural heritage that has been passed on to them by their ancestors.
