The Minister for Tourism, Scott Bacon, today said that Tourism Tasmania will promote the State’s strengths through the people behind our products to Tourism Australia staff, so as to improve their knowledge and perception of Tasmania.
“The theme of the ‘Tassie Takeover’ will draw on Tourism Australia’s international strategy building on ‘There’s Nothing Like Australia’ and will also provide a lead into Tasmania’s strength’s in the upcoming Restaurant Australia campaign.
“This is the first time that any State has been involved in such a promotion to Tourism Australia which will take place in their Sydney offices,” he said.
Operators participating in the Tassie Takeover event include:Moorila Estate; Joseph Chromy Wines; Willie Smith Organic Cider; Lark Distillery; Tas Live Abalone; Bruny Island Cheese; Get Shucked Oysters; Pennicott Wilderness Journeys; Innkeepers Tasmania; and Premier Travel Tasmania.
Mr Bacon said that Tourism Tasmania was assisting operators with the costs of their produce and delivery but they were covering their own travel and accommodation expenses.
