As part of their global campaign, TAT promises to offer a touch of Thai Local Experiences through various interesting activities this year. This campaign, designed to go with UNWTO’s 2017 ‘Year of Sustainable Tourism Development’ theme, will be in top focus for the year. The intention behind this programme is to ensure that Thailand remains in people’s minds as a top destination and choice for traveling. It welcomes international visitors for exploring and experiencing an authentic local Thai life.
India ranks 6th globally in terms of tourist arrivals in Thailand. As per the recent numbers released by Department of Tourism, in 2016, Thailand welcomed 1.19 million Indian travelers and for 2017, the target is 14% increase in revenue and 8% increase in footfalls. The main destinations in focus along with local communities will be Chiang Mai, Krabi, Trat and Bangkok.
