And some Mount Maunganui retailers are likely to be ‘crazy busy’.
As many as five cruise ships are scheduled to set sail into the Port of Tauranga in the following three days including the Norwegian Jewel that would be making its maiden voyage to the city.
Retailers have told a news media house that this would be their busiest trading weekend of the year.
Today the 115,857 tonne cruise liner Diamond Princess was scheduled to set sail into the Port of Tauranga around 5.30 a.m. with 2670 passengers and 1050 crew members on board. It was followed by the 10,944 tonne L’Austral that was carrying 404 passengers and also some crew members around 8 a.m.
Another cruise ship known as the Sea Princess that is a 77,499 tonne vessel.
It would be carrying 1990 passengers and 900 crew members on board and is ready to arrive at 6.15 a.m. Also, the Radiance Of The Seas would be arriving with 2112 passengers 859 crew members.
It is expected to dock about 15 minutes later.
The around 7.30 a.m. on Sunday, the 93,502 tonne Norwegian Jewel would be making its maiden visit into Tauranga, bringing 2376 passengers and 1100 crew members.
It is the first of the three visits that Norwegian Jewel is slated to make to the city in this cruising season.
