Travellers on board the Porter flight that had taken off from Billy Bishop airport downtown was on its way to Newark Liberty airport of New Jersey.
The flight had to shut down an engine on account of ‘oil pressure indication’, according to Brad Cicero who is a spokesperson of Porter.
Finally the airplane landed without any incidents.
Cicero said that the passengers are being provided with ground transportation options to return to Billy Bishop and travel on an alternative flight this afternoon.
Porter does not operate flights out of Pearson.
And instead it flies exclusively out of Billy Bishop. Passengers on the flight were expected to leave around 10 a.m. Monday morning from Billy Bishop.
A rescheduled flight did not depart the airport until 5.15 p.m. and it would be landing in Newark a short while prior to 7 p.m. Some of the stranded passengers took to a popular microblogging site to vent out their frustration and lament the delays.
The emergency landing arrived amidst many cancellations at Pearson on Monday owing to violent winds and winter weather conditions.
